The Journey Continues

This is a weekend workshop that is usually offered to working counsellors who trained with me and want to engage in an experiential workshop with the theme of the continuing journey.

However, we are very happy (my co-trainer is Amanda Hardeman) to work with counsellors interested in working creatively and experientially and if this means you then please get in touch. Here is how we advertised a previous workshop (minus photographs):

The Journey Continues…

A professional and personal development residential retreat for Counsellors and Psychotherapists

Buckden Towers, Buckden, Cambridgeshire

Facilitated by Chris Wise and Amanda Hardeman

This weekend gives you 16 CPD hours and is open to qualified therapists and trainees. The weekend comprises a mixture of focused exercises, circle work, action and movement techniques and exploration into group dynamics as they evolve.

There will be theoretical input around psychoanalytical theories. And some philosophy. Oh, and bodies, especially bodies! What is a body? What is a mind? We create a safe space for the group to examine and explore the weaving strands of their personal and professional lives.

Cost: £280.00 This includes single room accommodation, and all meals. (Special diet requirements can be catered for) Places given on a first come first served basis.

The Journey Continues

What does one need to be, to do, to have, as a therapist? What more is there to learn? What constitutes relevant knowledge? Neuroscience? Politics? Philosophy? The Arts? Self-knowledge? All of those and more?

So you are qualified (whatever that means!), you have been working with clients, have had your own therapy and you can make your way in the world as a psychotherapist. But what is ‘your way’? What will you carry with you?

Is this what you need?

  • A theory of mind and body
  • Knowing your own story
  • A theory of therapy
  • An interest in politics
  • Passion
  • A metaphor for therapy- for life
  • An open mind
  • An open heart
  • Resilience
  • A philosophy
  • Compassion
  • Stories
  • This weekend offers an opportunity to explore the unknown paths ahead. When Oedipus came to the crossroads he chose badly, through arrogance and a lack of compassion and wisdom. He paid a dreadful price. What will help you cope with life’s vicissitudes, the sadness of your clients’ stories? We shall work in ways that are familiar to you and in a setting you know. We will set some goals as well. What would you like to leave with?
Come and continue your story over this weekend. It doesn’t have an ending but it will point to paths you may wish to meander down.
